With a deep sense of gratitude to God for giving to the world Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, I offer this testimony.

All was well until after I graduated from high school, when it was necessary for me to cease reliance upon members of my family for support and to go out and earn my own living. Employment was found in the line of work I desired, but responsibilities weighed upon me so heavily that at the end of three years physical problems developed which greatly hindered progress. A specialist was consulted, and his instructions were followed until he admitted all had been done that could be done. A change of climate was then recommended.

At home and in an orthodox Sunday school I had been taught from infancy that God hears and answers prayer. I firmly believed this teaching. Therefore, when confronted with fear of disease, failure, impairment, loss, and lack, I turned naturally to God in prayer, but my prayers appeared to be unanswered. God, however, was directing my path, for while on a journey in a distant state in quest of the proper climate I met an experienced Christian Scientist, who lovingly and understandingly explained that God is the same at the seashore as He is on the top of the mountain. At that moment I was permanently healed of fear of climate. The Christian Scientist also told me something of the nature of a Christian Science treatment, which led me to inquire, "If a Christian Science treatment is prayer, why have not my prayers been answered?" The reply was, "Your prayers have been answered; they have brought you Christian Science."
