It is with heartfelt gratitude that I write this testimony. Mere words, however, are inadequate to express my love for, and loyalty and sincere devotion to, Christian Science. For more than twenty years it has been my only physician. I have experienced and witnessed countless healings, several being of so-called incurable diseases. Christian Science has sustained me in times of stress, protected me in danger, and comforted me in sorrow.

Although I had come out of the darkness of ill-health, unhappiness, and lack into the light of health, harmony, and adequate supply, as a result of my study and application of the truths taught in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I had never had to apply my understanding of Truth to the healing of a surgical problem until recently.

In 1939, when I was driving home from market, a huge milk truck suddenly loomed before me at a very sharp curve in the road. I was not driving fast at the time, but instinctively I put my foot on the brake. It was misting, the road was slippery, and my car skidded into the truck. The concussion seemed terrific. However, I did not lose consciousness. Although I was alone in the car I had no sense of aloneness. I was confident of God's presence and protection. My first clear thought was, "Something seems to have happened to my car; something seems to have happened to my body, but nothing has touched me." I shall never cease to be grateful that in such an emergency I was able to know with positive conviction that "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 473). I was indeed "absent from the body" and "present with the Lord." Although the car was a total wreck, I got out of the debris, and quietly refusing all offers of ambulance, hospital care, or medical attention, asked a bystander to take me home. Help was asked for in Christian Science, and a Christian Science nurse was sent for. The healing was beautiful. Each day was one of definite progress. A wonderful sense of peace and spiritual happiness filled our home during this time. In less than two weeks I was downstairs, and a few days later I was able to introduce the lecturer at our Christian Science lecture, walking, without a cane, up several steps to the platform.
