The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (The Mother Church).

Lecturer: Miss Florence Middaugh; introduced by Miss Margaret Morrison, who said:—

A Christian Science lecture is as "the voice of one crying in the wilderness." Into the wilderness of tangled mortal beliefs, enslaving superstitions and fears, of conflicting interests and warring factions, goes forth the voice of Truth, crying, "Make straight in the desert a highway for our God." This highway is made straight and plain as we attain an exact, scientific knowledge of God. On this highway we may walk in perfect peace and safety, because our God is Love, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, omniactive; that is, all power, all presence, all science, all action—infinite good. This scientific knowledge of good, of the spiritual facts of being, is, indeed, a secure and clearly shining highway, leading us safely through the illusions of the material senses.
