Sunday School Notes and Comments

One who taught in the Sunday school of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, for a number of years, frequently studied Article XX of the Manual of The Mother Church, relative to the Sunday school work.

Section 2 of this Article, entitled "Teaching the Children," states in part, "The Sabbath School children shall be taught the Scriptures, and they shall be instructed according to their understanding or ability to grasp the simpler meanings of the divine Principle that they are taught."

The teacher gave much thought to this passage, and pondered over Mrs. Eddy's use of the words "divine Principle" in this instance; and because our Leader used "Principle," the teacher always kept it uppermost in thought when preparing the lessons. She endeavored to watch her own thought so as to bring her understanding of Principle into every detail of her life, in practical ways, in order that the Sunday school children might be helped to apply their understanding of Principle in their own lives.
