I have so often been uplifted and encouraged by reading the testimonies of healing in our periodicals, that I feel it is time I told a little of what Christian Science has done for me, in the hope that someone else may also be helped and encouraged.

I have been healed of a nervous condition which made it extremely difficult for me to sit through a church service, or even to go anywhere away from home, because I so frequently experienced acute physical distress at such times. I can now sit through a meeting of several hours' duration, and go anywhere I please, without experiencing any such discomfort. This healing seemed to be slow, but, with the help of loving practitioners and much persistent effort on my own part, it was finally accomplished. At first, when I knew very little of Truth, I stayed in the house altogether for some time, thinking I might meet the problem better when my understanding had grown, but I was told by a practitioner that I could not overcome the error by running away from it, but that I must take my stand for Truth and resist error. This I did, and though for a time the battle waged, I rejoice to say that the truth was the victor, as it always must be when faithfully applied. I am grateful for the understanding gained in the working out of this problem, for I learned that I had my part to do in the work, and could not wait for someone else to do it for me. This awakening was the first step in the breaking up of apathy.

Another thing for which I shall always be grateful was a very harmonious experience of childbirth, which took place with the help of a Christian Science nurse and practitioner, no medical doctor having been called or consulted either before, at the time, or afterwards. The first child had been born, ten years previously, with the aid of instruments and chloroform, and when the second child was coming I had great fear of a certain fatal complication associated with childbirth. I asked the practitioner to help me overcome this fear, and needless to say there was no sign of the difficulty at any time.
