In a recent letter to the Star, a correspondent takes exception to the teachings of Christian Science in regard to the unreality of evil.

Evil was no mystery to Jesus. Did he not understand its nature so completely that he was able to prove his dominion over it, and to teach others to do likewise? The Master and his followers healed "all manner" of sin and disease.

In reference to the nature of the devil or evil the Master said: "He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." And instructing his disciples as to how to gain their freedom, Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Did not the Way-shower thus clearly indicate that the evils which beset mankind are illusory, and that the remedy is to replace these false beliefs with the truth regarding God and man?
