A Prayer for Today

MINNY M. H. AYERS

Keep me close to Thee, my Father,
   Keep my ear attuned to Thee.
Let me listen for the heartbeats
   Of reality.

Lift me high above earth's pictures
   Of the tumult and the strife:
In the secret of Thy presence,
   Undisturbed is life.

Keep me from befogging hatred
   Till the winds of error cease;
Only in Love's holy allness
   Is there hope or peace.

Here safe-sheltered in Truth's haven,
   Where no foeman can invade,
Let my weary brethren see me,
   Calm and unafraid.

Help me stay within this sanctum,
   Raised and strengthened by Thy might,
So to share with earth's sad dreamers
   Healing balm and light.
