Too long have I withheld my expression of gratitude for Christian Science and for the years of protection, health, and well-being which I have experienced through the study and application of it in daily living.

My father and mother accepted the teaching of Christian Science in the early days, when Christian Science was little known in California. They demonstrated its truth for themselves and others, and it became the religion and medicine of our family; so I have long had its blessing and help. I have also had the joy of bringing up a daughter, with the help of Christian Science, who is faithfully demonstrating its teachings for herself.

An outstanding healing in my experience occurred a few years ago. When my husband and I were traveling in a desolate part of a southern state, a large stone came through the windshield of our car and struck me with great force in the face. We had to drive ten miles before we could find even a railroad camp at which to stop. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp. 149, 150), "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee." This was surely proved to us then. We were scarcely in a house when a terrific thunderstorm broke, the worst there had been in that section in years.
