Building for Eternity

During these difficult times, many parents are thinking about the future of their children, and are concerned for their success and happiness. All too often the questions arise: How can they be fortified to meet the demands of tomorrow? How can we train our children so that they will become strong and wise, able to assume those burdens which we cannot carry for them, and should not if we would? How can we, as parents, teach them to overcome difficulties, solve problems, and encourage them to build characters which will serve as a shield and a bulwark against trials and temptations? How, in other words, can we fully equip them for the all-important duties and obligations which lie ahead?

Surely God can lead each one to his rightful place in the world, and to do his part in making human life better and happier, not alone for himself but for others also. And we know that there is a right answer to all questions. For that answer let us turn to the Scriptures and to the writings of Christian Science for inspiration in the way of truth and righteousness.

In the book of Job we read, "There is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding." And in the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 259), "Immortal ideas, pure, perfect, and enduring, are transmitted by the divine Mind through divine Science, which corrects error with truth and demands spiritual thoughts, divine concepts, to the end that they may produce harmonious results." In these immortal words will be found the assurance and the guidance that we so earnestly seek.
