The Balance of Power

"Balance of power," as understood by the Christian Scientist in its spiritual meaning, is of great import to the human race. Knowing as he does that, from the standpoint of reality, good derived from God is the ultimate and only power, the student of Christian Science is confident that the balance of power in human situations will always be on the side of the highest right, that is, on the side of men and nations who live according to their highest sense of right.

The follower of Christian Science has set out to keep the balance of power rightly adjusted in his own experience, through discernment of the highest good. He knows also that, in the larger world-issues which affect mankind as a whole, this balance, to ensure moral progress, must be kept by means of those elements which identity themselves with the spiritual values of fundamental Christianity.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, there are found clear directions, page upon page, for making good preponderant in daily life. One such passage reads (p. 261), "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts."
