With gratitude for the opportunity, afforded by our periodicals, of publishing our songs of praise to the Giver of all good for His glorious gift of Christian Science, I offer this testimony.
It was fourteen years ago that I was introduced to Christian Science. At that time I had been out of regular employment for two years, during which I had consumed nearly all my savings. In addition to this, I was afflicted with a dreadful disease. Almost immediately the disease was banished into nothingness, and there has been no return. But it was nearly a year before regular employment was found. During that year, my experiences were almost parallel to those of the children of Israel in their wanderings in the wilderness, for my supply was manifested almost day by day, and there were many wonderful demonstrations of divine guidance.
There came a time when it seemed that the limit of my resources had been reached. As a matter of economy, I had moved my family to a small town near the home of my wife's parents. I had finished a temporary job about three weeks before, and it seemed that there was no place to turn for work to supply necessities. The thought came to me, however, to move my family back to the city. Under such circumstances this step seemed hazardous, but I was conscious of divine guidance. And, since we are assured in Christian Science that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494), we decided to take this step. It was agreed that my wife and the children should immediately start disposing of the furniture, while I went on ahead to make preparations in the city. In going about the business of these preparations, I found myself in a part of the city near an office where I had made application for a job several months before, and it came to me, as from that voice which had seemed to direct my activities all that day, "Why not go and see if anything has turned up?" I acted on this impulse, and as I walked into the office I was met with the greeting, "How did you get here so quickly?" The manager then explained that he had sent me a telegram only that morning offering me a job. That job proved to be the solution of my problem of regular employment.
