Christian Science does not rely on any "thought-germ."
L'Union Régionale
Christian Science does not rely on any "thought-germ." On the contrary, it destroys every mental germ or microbe, incubated in the belief of the activity of a so-called mortal mind—mortal because erroneous—and for so doing it relies on the First Commandment, knowing as Mind, as intelligence, as sole conceiving power, or sole creator, only the divine Mind, called God.
The healing of Christian Science is neither psychical, mystical, hypnotic, nor autosuggestive. It is purely and simply spiritual.
The only requisite is what the Bible designates very precisely as a conversion (Isaiah 6:10; John 12:40)—a conversion by which the individual consciousness turns away from the sense of evil or superstitious belief in the active reality of error, towards a comprehensive certitude of the indisputable omnipotence of God, good—a conversion from the material to the spiritual.
It is important to emphasize that this conversion destroys sin, and that physical healing is the consequence and sign of this regeneration, or new birth, to which Jesus alluded in his talk by night with Nicodemus (John 3).
