In gratitude for the many blessings received in Christian Science...
In gratitude for the many blessings received in Christian Science I send this testimony, with the hope that others may experience joy, peace, and love such as have come to me.
I learned of Christian Science when in great need. Suffering from hemorrhage for over five weeks, I was left so weak that I could hardly walk, stand, or even sit. After submitting to a careful medical examination I felt myself sinking fast, for the physician offered little hope. How to break the news to my dear wife troubled me greatly. I was asked if I would give Christian Science a trial, and agreed. A friend, not a Christian Scientist, offered to make the first inquiry for me.
A practitioner came to see me that evening. He smiled, as much as to say, There is nothing to be afraid of; all is well. I tried to be as pleasant as I could, but I had not let the nature of the ailment be known, and my fear was great. While the practitioner talked to me about passages in the Bible and in Science and Health by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I felt much cheered, thinking I had never heard such kind words about God and Christ Jesus, our Wayshower. I went to bed and slept well all night. The next morning he gave me a Christian Science treatment, and during it I felt a change for the better. In the afternoon he gave me another treatment, after which I felt like going back to my work. In less than a week I was completely healed. Hemorrhage, catarrh of long standing, and a desire to smoke, left me and have never returned. This occurred more than seventeen years ago.
In later years, through the work of a loving practitioner, a healing was effected of what is called inflammatory rheumatism, in less than half an hour. All pain ceased, and I felt myself free, after a night of great suffering.
I have been enabled, in some degree, to understand our Leader's statement on page 473 of Science and Health: "The God-principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." As a branch church member I have learned to be grateful for all the activities of the Christian Science Cause.
Jonas Fielding, Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.
I am pleased to verify the above testimony, and to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me.
My first healing was of a very severe cold. Later I fell through a basement trap door, which had been left open by mistake. I caught my hand between the door and the wall, and also injured one ankle and my back. A practitioner was called and absent treatment given, and in less than three weeks all signs of accident, marks, and discoloration had disappeared.
I am truly grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me and for my home.—(Mrs.) Mary Fielding.
