World Advancement and Individual Spiritual Growth

Today, as they view events in the material world, Christian Scientists are increasingly grateful to their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who not only was spiritually minded enough to receive the great revelation of Truth, but who also had the love and courage to labour until she could present it in a form available for all to use.

Christian Science reveals the truth that does and will bring healing to the world. On page 340 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy states, "One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, 'Love thy neighbor as thyself;' annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry,—whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annual the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed." These words are statements of scientific facts which can be proved. Through the application of the teaching of Christian Science, fear and selfishness, ignorance and disease, war and crime, can be wiped out of human thought and experience.

Witnessing the wrongs that seem part of human experience today, men may believe that this happy consummation is a long way off. The remark is often heard that it will take many hundreds of years for the regeneration of mankind. Less than one hundred and fifty years ago a little band of men, in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, left the mouth of the Missouri River to search out a way to the Pacific Coast. It took them eighteen months of struggle and hardship to accomplish what now, by means of modern transportation, seems a short journey between St. Louis and Seattle.
