I am very grateful for the many proofs of God's protecting care which I have experienced in the years I have known Christian Science, and I feel I must give my testimony.

Many years ago we were leaving London for South Africa, and two days before sailing I was having a dress shortened. The one helping me had pinned up the hem with needles, because she had run short of pins. As I was crossing the room to the mirror, I fell over a chair, and suddenly felt a severe pain. When I looked to see what had occurred, I found that a needle had penetrated the thigh. As the day went on, the pain became more acute and I was full of fear, so I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. The next day being the day before sailing, I had to attend to many things, but by the afternoon the leg was doubled up so that I could not put it to the ground, and I was carried up to bed. The practitioner was informed of the condition and help was again asked for. Soon after this I fell asleep and slept through the night. The next morning I was putting the finishing touches to the luggage when I suddenly remembered the condition I had been in the day before. I stood there in awe as I realized I had experienced a Christian Science healing, the first one I had ever had.

We caught the boat that morning; and for many months afterwards, when I was going through trying experiences, this healing stood out before me as a proof that Christian Science does heal and save.
