The Bible

I take the Bible in my hand,
And then the seers before me stand;
The prophets teach, the Psalmist sings,
While sound again the silver strings.
And Jesus comes, in time foretold,
The shepherd of the Father's fold.
His glance compassionately reads
Humanity's unsated needs.
His vision compasses all men,
To bring the Christ within their ken.
He speaks of Comforter to be
To teach all Science and its key.
An angel stands on earth and sea,
In Revelation's prophecy:
Come, take the book from out my hand
And preach its truth in every land.
The bright and morning star ascends,
The long night of our discord ends.
Gone are all death and tears and pain—
The Spirit and the bride now reign!
