It has been said that Christian Science is a religion of gratitude. This statement is verified when we attend a Wednesday evening meeting at any Christian Science church or society throughout the world. Gratitude prompts the giving of this testimony, that I may express in a small way some of the blessings I have experienced.

I shall ever remember the sixth of April, 1911, for on that date a friend invited me to study with her the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. The subject was "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" As in answer to this question, before the lesson was finished, I was ready joyfully to exclaim, "No! I am sure now that God is Love, and Love cannot create anything unlovely, such as sin or suffering." I asked my friend why I had not known this before, for I had been a Bible reader, and even thought I was a wise Bible student. I also had been taught by devoted Christian parents to read this precious book daily. From that day to this my fear of, belief in, and sympathy for material law have grown less and less.

For many years I had served in the capacity of medical nurse, but I had lost all confidence in the efficacy of medicine. Sickness seemed very real, but I was sure that there was something which could help me.
