Now
Paul , who to human sense had had a cruel past, recommended "forgetting those things which are behind" and pressing toward "the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." In doing this he achieved his freedom, and he also attained to a remarkable degree of usefulness.
Well may we today remember the experience of Paul and keep alert to the inroads which the false belief of past mistakes would make into our happiness and success, and well may we take care to protect ourselves therefrom. How may such protection be realized?
In approaching the subject, we must first consider the question of reality. What is reality? Christian Science gives the one correct and true concept of reality, which is utterly unlike the false concept of intelligence, substance, and being as existent in matter, and of man as material, subject to all the miseries and liabilities, the sin, sickness, and death, which attend a material sense of existence. To this erroneous material sense of existence all human suffering may be directly attributed.
