It is now five years since I became interested in Christian Science, and I am submitting this testimony in the hope that it will help some seeker after Truth to take the progressive steps which ultimate in a demonstrable knowledge of God. I am more grateful than words can tell for all the good I have received.

Early in 1933 I was taken seriously ill. I had some slight acquaintance with Christian Science had had some treatment, but decided to adhere to medical treatment in my extremity. After three months in hospital, during which time X-ray photographs had shown serious lung trouble, I was ordered into a sanatorium, with little hope held for my recovery and only the prospect of invalidism if I survived. At this time I acceded to the pleadings of a very dear friend and asked for a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I also wrote to a practitioner. In his reply he pointed out that Christian Science treatment cannot be given concurrently with medical treatment. However, he recommended that I study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly daily, and offered to give Christian Science treatment should I at any time decide to turn away from the medical treatment.

I took Science and Health to the sanatorium with me and, after studying it for a time, realized that this was just what I had long been looking for. I again wrote the practitioner, and Christian Science treatment was lovingly and willingly given. From then on I made steady progress and, through the help of the practitioner, ten weeks after I had entered the sanatorium hopeless, I left it, healed.
