Daily Bread
Tired
worker, still unwearied in devotion,
Rest and renewal are provided with your task;
Be not self-pityful, lest privative emotion
Deny to you God's wealth because you will not ask.
When asking and receiving, seeking and then finding,
The bolted doors will yield, your needs will be supplied;
Released from anxious care, the bonds of men unbinding,
Freedom is also yours, and no good thing denied.
Each day has space for action, and time for peace-pursuing,
At eventide comes quiet when all is done and said;
Be sure that in your patience and in your kindly doing
The kindness of our God becomes your daily bread.
