In loving obedience to the counsel expressed in Psalms,...
In loving obedience to the counsel expressed in Psalms, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so," I send this testimony with a deep sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me.
Medical authorities in hospital and sanatorium pronounced the physical condition of my throat and lungs incurable. Hearing of Christian Science I attended a near-by church and on my second visit received an instantaneous healing of eye trouble of nine years' standing. This strengthened my faith, and I seriously took up the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. With the help of a practitioner complete freedom from the so-called incurable disease was won in four months. This healing took place over nineteen years ago. Since then a medical examination, which was necessary for insurance purposes, passed me as a "first class life," proving, as St. Paul says in his epistle to the Romans, that the body had been transformed by the renewing of the mind.
Someone has written that gratitude opens the door to heaven. About twelve years ago our boy had an illness which left him with a paralyzed arm. I had been having Christian Science treatment for him, but months went by without any apparent result. One Wednesday night in church, during the period given for testimonies, there was a long pause and I found myself wishing that someone would rise and give testimony. Error had been keeping me seated for months with the argument that I must wait until the healing came to the boy before giving testimony. Then a voice seemed to say to me, Have you nothing to be grateful for? and I found myself saying, "Oh, yes, my own healing, which has been permanent." Then I was on my feet relating all the blessings I had received. That night I felt all the burden roll away; disappointment and discouragement had no place in a heart filled with gratitude. The next morning the boy was completely healed, and there has been no further trouble.
