Recently your contributor "Meddler" took exception to the statement made by a Christian Science lecturer, that man is spiritual. The Bible teaches that God is omnipresent being. "Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord." Now, that intelligence which fills all space can only be Spirit or Mind. Then since man is created in God's own image, man must be the image and likeness of Spirit, and therefore spiritual.

Had our critic been less hasty he would have perceived that by no process of reasoning can one logically arrive at the conclusion that a physical body is the image and likeness of infinite Spirit. As students of Christian Science "put off the old man with his deeds" and "put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him," they express better health, improved dispositions, and greater ability to do that which is right and good. In her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 128), "A knowledge of the Science of being develops the latent abilities and possibilities of man."
