I wish to express my gratitude for the knowledge and the understanding I have of Christian Science.
Christian Science was brought to my notice more than thirty years ago through an almost instantaneous healing of a nephew, whom medical science had failed to heal in three years' time. Without the least understanding of what Christian Science was, I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to read the book and to try to put into practice what I read. At that time I had a houseful of little girls, and sickness of one kind or another seemed to be a constant visitor at our home; so I was kept busy reading the Bible and Science and Health and earnestly trying to trust to God's care the ones who were sick. By that method all claims were met as they appeared, for which I am grateful. These little folk all grew up under the wings of Truth.
About a year after I became interested in this faith, my husband, a master printer, was led to give up teaching printing in a state school, move to the city, and go into business for himself. Looking back on those early days after we first moved, I marvel at the blessings we received and at the work done by the new business concern. "Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind," writes Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 60). I have always attributed the success of this venture as much to my seeking the truth as revealed by Mrs. Eddy in her writings, as to my husband's honesty, skill, and industry.
