Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

The attitude of the press has been one of increasing good will and friendliness. During the past year no criticisms requiring correction appeared in newspapers. Short reports of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly have been selected by your Committee and furnished to twenty-two newspapers. These have been published each week. Several additional daily papers have printed of church announcements and have included the subject of the Lesson-Sermon for each week. One specially prepared Lesson-Sermon excerpt was solicited for publication in an advertising bulletin for Sunday distribution at one of the local parks during a concert.

Newspapers have been generous with space allotted to reports of lectures given by members of the Board of Lectureship, one lecture in full and four short excerpts having been published. Lectures at Watertown, Sioux Falls, and Aberdeen were announced by the readers of the Christian Science radio programs well in advance of the date of each lecture. Increased attendance has been noticed at all lectures.

Exchange subscriptions have been continued for thirty-nine editors, with one new subscriber. Committees on Publication are privileged to offer subscriptions for The Christian Science Monitor to editors of newspapers in localities where there are no Christian Science churches or societies, in exchange for an equal amount of advertising. Many reprints from the Monitors were received by this office. Several editors have expressed their deep appreciation for the Monitor.
