Topic: The Practice of Christianity

[From the Evening Democrat, Fort Madison, Iowa]

A helpful hint in practical Christianity is found in a statement by L. P. Jacks, which reads: "Nobody will know what you mean by 'God is love' unless you act it well."

The Bible places much stress on the fact that "God is love," but it is intended that we all, to the best of our ability, prove the statement. The fact that God is Love is one of the foundation stones of the Christian religion, but, important as the fact is, it will not be given serious thought and consideration unless we all express, manifest, and reflect love in all our multitudinous contacts with our fellow men. Everyone likes the person who is consistent. If we talk about God being Love, it may not be particularly impressive to others. But if, while talking it, we prove in our contacts that we believe the statement to the extent that we are actually living it, such actions are impressive.
