Several years ago I was in a bad physical and mental condition. I was gloomy, lonely, and unhappy. I had investigated various philosophies and religions in search of the way into peace and harmony. A physical examination showed me to be anemic, underweight, to have sugar in the blood, to have a heart ailment, and a number of other discordant conditions. At times I was so weak and miserable I could hardly hold my head up. I had lost all faith in medical treatment, and had tried diet and exercise with no benefit.

One day I was telling my troubles to a friend, and said in a joking way, "I guess I'll try Christian Science." He then said he considered it beneficial, although he was not a student. I decided to investigate it, and went to a practitioner. After one visit I felt as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I purchased a Bible and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to study. I am very happy to say that the ailments mentioned have been overcome through the help of practitioners, together with study of the Bible, the textbook, other works of our beloved Leader, and the periodicals.

I have found Christian Science to be a help and protection wherever one may be. For a number of years I have been going to sea. During severe storms and thick weather I have relied upon my understanding of Christian Science, and by acknowledging the protection of ever-present Love have come through without damage or loss.
