It has been said that one must believe in Christian Science...
It has been said that one must believe in Christian Science in order to be healed. Previous to the time I became interested in Christian Science I did not have any religion. I had a vague belief in a Supreme Being, but that was all. It did not even occur to me to go to church on Sunday. I am grateful that at last I found a religion that satisfies.
About sixteen years ago I was in the above state of mind when I was preparing to go to a hospital for treatment for ulcers of the doudenum. Then I was persuaded by two recently acquired friends to try Christian Science. Previous to that time I had had great antipathy to what I believed Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy to be. I believed that the testimonies given on Wednesday evening were lies, and that those expressing such gratitude were being paid by someone for those lies. The friends mentioned above found a practitioner and took me to her. When I entered her office I told her I did not believe in this Science—that I would have to be shown. I was shown, for in less than a week I was eating solid food. However, it took a number of years to accomplish a complete healing, as much hatred, resentment, and many other discordant thoughts had to be eliminated from my thinking. But I am grateful to say that now I eat everything that is put before me, with no ill effects whatsoever.
I am grateful for the persistence of my two friends in urging me to try Christian Science, and for the consecrated practitioner. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; for participation in the activities of the latter; for class instruction; for a clearer understanding of God as revealed by Mary Baker Eddy; and for the good that Christian Science is bringing to the whole world.—(Miss) Sadie H. Power, New York, New York.
