Knowing that the healings of various forms of disease,...
Knowing that the healings of various forms of disease, accident, fear, and discontent which have been mine have not been for me alone, I am writing this testimony as an expression of deep gratitude for the blessings that have come to me as a result of finding God through the study of Christian Science. I came to Science for the healing of a so-called incurable condition of the heart, at a time when I was very sick and very sad, having lost two dear ones within a few weeks of each other. I never expected to find such a religion of love as I found in Christian Science. I came simply for physical healing, and stayed for the loveliness of the teaching. I received my physical healing after many months of loving, patient work on the part of the practitioners and hours of struggling on my part with the false beliefs of mortal mind.
I had many proofs of the healing power of Truth while on the way, proofs which strengthened my belief that Truth does heal; but I had to learn, and admit I had learned, the great fact of spiritual existence as the only existence, before I was firmly established. Then I could say, "I know whom I have believed."
This admission was the result of a very trying experience with a growth on my eye, which was accompanied by a great deal of pain. The condition lasted for several months, seemingly unchanged. Although I had been a student of Christian Science for three years, mortal mind kept urging the necessity of going to an oculist. However, with the loving help of the practitioner and the unwavering assurance with which she held to the truth, I did not yield to this suggestion, knowing that God is omnipotent. Finally, when I could truly realize that I was simply and purely God's spiritual idea without any thought of material existence being present, and could admit this fact to myself and others, I was healed!
