It is now about thirteen years since Christian Science...

It is now about thirteen years since Christian Science was presented to me by my son. I had been very ill for some time, and was still far from well, being in great fear from attacks which I was experiencing. The doctor said he could not help me further—that these attacks would recur. My son visited me about this time and after a little conversation and explanation thereof asked if I should like to try Christian Science. I consented. The doctor sent me another bottle of medicine, but I did not take any, for each time I went to take it I had to put the bottle back; my Father-Mother God was already helping me through the practitioner, though just then I did not know or realize it. A little later I learned that the disinclination to take the dose came when work was begun for me. I was also healed at the same time of constipation, for which I had had to take medicine daily from childhood. I was healed of the other trouble also, though it was some time before the fear was overcome. I was very grateful for both these healings; the practitioner was wonderfully kind and patient with me all the time.

In 1929 I was comforted and healed of grief at the passing on of a very dear one. Words alone cannot express all my gratitude for the loving comfort I received. Another healing I should like to mention was that of ulcerated varicose veins. This was in 1930, when I was seventy-six years of age. The wounds, which formed at the back of my leg from the heel upwards, were severe, and were difficult to care for, and I had a nurse to attend to them for me; it was at times a painful experience. The practitioner gave me treatment during this period, and in ten weeks I was about again and completely and permanently healed.

My gratitude goes out to God; to Christ Jesus, our Wayshower; and to our dear Leader, who worked so lovingly and untiringly that all mankind might benefit by her discovery. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a Christian Science Society, and especially for class instruction and for the privilege of having served as First Reader in our society.—(Mrs.) Adeline Lovering Carter, Brighton, Sussex, England.
