I am grateful each day for the joy and the understanding...

I am grateful each day for the joy and the understanding of God which have come to me through Christian Science. It is now about eight years since I took up its study, and I have had many healings for which I wish to express my gratitude. Some of these have been of headaches, hemorrhoids, a sprained ankle, infected tonsils, which a physician had said must be taken out, hives, and influenza. I was able to make many of the demonstrations with the little understanding I had gained, and others with the help of a Christian Science practitioner. An internal disorder was slower in yielding, but was also overcome with this help, and when I realized that I must "leave the old for the new" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 324), the healing was permanent. The daily reading of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly has been of great help, and each day I am more thankful for the avenues through which Christian Science helps us to live better and fuller lives.

When my mother, who is a Jewess, first heard of my interest in Christian Science, she was much against it; but when the fact that we are all God's perfect children was fully realized by me, harmony again reigned. Today my mother thinks I have a beautiful religion which I can use every day, and she not only does not object to my having taken up this study, but goes to the lectures and church services whenever possible. This was one of my first demonstrations, and it has many times helped me to make others.

Recently my brother passed away. At first illness tried to attack me, and instead of calling for help I thought I could work for myself, but with so many around who were not interested in Christian Science, I had to call for a practitioner, who gave quick and effective help. I was able to fall asleep in a few minutes, and by morning all trace of suffering was gone and I was able to help myself and also my mother during the next few days.
