Some seventeen years ago Christian Science came to me...
Some seventeen years ago Christian Science came to me when I was passing through a time of great sorrow. I tried to find comfort through every channel I could think of, but after much seeking I gave up the search. One day a friend spoke to me of Christian Science, and from the very first I felt that I had at last found the Comforter I was looking for. I eagerly studied the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, day and night, and gradually peace and happiness returned to me; and through all the years since then this wonderful truth has helped me in every problem.
Through attending a Christian Science lecture I was instantaneously healed of asthma, after suffering for years, at times the condition being so acute that I could not lie down, so I had to get what sleep I could propped up with pillows. Many other healings have taken place in my family. My daughter, who as a baby was very delicate, has had many healings, and is now strong and well. We recently passed through another great sorrow, but this time we had the knowledge of the ever-presence of divine Love, sustaining and comforting. I wish to express my love and gratitude for The Mother Church and for the privilege of membership in it, and also for class instruction.—(Mrs.) Gertrude Mary Gloyne, Christchurch, Hampshire, England.
I should like to confirm my mother's testimony and to add my own expression of gratitude for all the blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life, for my Sunday school teaching, and for membership in The Mother Church. As I have put into practice what I have been taught, lost articles have been restored. Recently I have been helped through very difficult circumstances in the overcoming of sorrow, which has made me more unselfed and loving. I have been protected in every way.
