I did not come into Christian Science for healing, but to...

I did not come into Christian Science for healing, but to please another who asked me to attend church and read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I became very much interested on my own account, and soon had the privilege of witnessing the wonderful healing of a member of my family of a dislocated arm which snapped back into place the second day, without any help other than an understanding of Truth.

I wish to express my great gratitude for Christian Science, and for what it has done and is doing for me and mine. It has been our only physician, adviser, and comforter for over twenty-four years and has never failed us in any way when applied according to the rules set forth in the textbook. I have found this truth very effective in protecting me from accidents and other ills. A few years ago I suffered an accident, fracturing a rib and getting a rather deep cut on the face. With the help of a practitioner both of the difficulties healed very quickly without any discomfort and with no loss of time.

Another healing was that of a very severe burn. I am working for a street car company, and one night I was sent with another man to change a car. While we were backing up to turn around we split the switch, and I told the motorman to run the car ahead to clear the front truck, which he did. I reached under the car with a short switch hook to push the switch over, and I touched the car in some way. The line switch was charged, and it burned the back of my right hand, three fingers of my left hand, and a hole through the front of my clothing, also destroying my glasses. The man asked me if I wanted to go to the barn, and I told him that we would wait and change cars, which took over half an hour. When we got back I called a practitioner for help, and within fifteen minutes I did not have the least bit of pain or discomfort. I kept my hand covered for two or three days until new flesh and skin had formed, and the hand was filled out and was normal in every way, only a little whiter than the other. That was the only way one could tell the difference in the two hands. In a little over a week the hand was perfectly healed, with no mark or scar. There was no inconvenience at all and no loss of time. I did my work as usual and used the hand as I always had.
