I am deeply grateful for Christian Science, the Science...
I am deeply grateful for Christian Science, the Science which Mrs. Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder, describes (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1) as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony."
Daily, more of good is mine through the larger understanding of God as Principle and Love. Daily are the hidden treasures of the Bible being revealed to me through the study of Christian Science, and through this revelation my every need is being met. I am grateful that more and more I am learning to bring every thought into obedience to God. It is such a wonderful experience to waken each morning with the thought that "this is the day which the Lord hath made," and that it is my privilege to "rejoice and be glad in it."
I have had many physical healings, and am grateful that almost every one of them has been instantaneous. One of the first things a Christian Science practitioner taught me was to expect immediate help; that God's work is done, and that it was my privilege to see it manifested. Some healings have been accomplished just by the reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, among them the healing of tubercular throat glands, weak eyes, constipation, hemorrhoids, sick headaches, croup, pneumonia, ptomaine poisoning, diphtheria, sunburn, warts, and ingrowing toenails. I have also had many instances of the protective power of Love. When a large pan of boiling water was poured over my legs, through the quick declaration by another student that there is no accident in Mind, and my own realization that water, cold or hot, could not harm an idea of God, I did not even feel the heat of the water. The physical healings have been beautiful and important, but they do not mean so much to me as the healings of faults of character. I still have much to overcome, but I know that each day these tenacious beliefs are losing their hold on me.
