So many grateful individuals have given testimonies of...
So many grateful individuals have given testimonies of healing gained through the study and application of Christian Science that I desire to add mine in acknowledgment of the priceless blessings I have experienced. When I look back only a few short years and realize the change for good that has taken place in my concept of existence, I marvel at the power of Christian Science. "Behold, all things are become new." I am beginning to live. I was brought up in a family that could not be called religiously inclined, and my knowledge of the Scriptures and its teachings was limited. But when He came "whose right it is," I found I had not lost anything.
Years went by until I found myself facing an apparently insurmountable mental wall and felt I could go on no longer. I had what was called a nervous breakdown. I tried every material way to find help, but found none. I sought one doctor after another, also went to a sanitarium and hospitals, but in vain. When I look back on this experience I cannot but exclaim, Oh, the lie, the unreality of it all! But in the darkest hour help was near. I was led to a Christian Science practitioner; and through the steadfast, consecrated, and patient work done for me I was gradually awakened to realize the facts of Christian Science, and healing came. Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has written in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 96), "Mortal error will vanish in a moral chemicalization;" and on pages 265 and 266, "The pains of sense are salutary, if they wrench away false pleasurable beliefs and transplant theaffections from sense to Soul, where the creations of God are good, 'rejoicing the heart.'" During this process of elimination of erroneous thinking, other healings came. I was healed of the tobacco habit. This healing is a constant source of satisfaction and joy to me. Undesirable traits of character have disappeared and confidence, hope, and gladness, with the fruits of peace and plenty, have appeared.
For all of these great blessings of health and happiness, I give everlasting praise, glory, and honor to Christian Science. But most of all I am grateful for a glimpse of the divine Principle of this truth that heals. I am a member of The Mother Church and an active member of one of its branches, for privilege of which I am truly grateful.—Maximilian Lindequist, West Somerville, Massachusetts.
