Many years ago, at a time of great anxiety and mental suffering, when all else had failed to bring relief, I turned to Christian Science as a last resort. A dear practitioner, seeing my sore need, very unselfishly offered to guide me in my search for peace through this, to me, strange field of thought. She lent me the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and patiently showed me how to study the Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly and answered my many questions. I had been suffering from insomnia, walking the floor many weary hours of the night; but very soon I found myself sleeping normally, though the condition which caused the anxiety remained unchanged. I had been a victim of neuralgia almost all my life, and dreaded the severe winters of the Middle West, which was my home at that time; but relief came from this also, for, although we had to pass that winter in a particularly cold region, I did not suffer from the experience.

Needless to say, I accepted this wonderful truth, though at first with many recurrent doubts and misgivings, owing to a tenacious clinging to old orthodox beliefs and beloved associations. But gradually these faded out, and in all these later years, while I hold the tenderest memories of those old associations, Christian Science has been my sole support and refuge at all times. I have found in this clear, full revelation of God and man as His reflection no room for regrets over the loss of earlier, less satisfactory teachings, for it has opened for me the Bible, before only dimly understood but now a direct message and guide to me through life. It has sustained me through many severe ordeals. I owe to Christian Science my complete recovery from the effects of a serious automobile accident, pronounced a fractured skull with possible concussion and many minor injuries. Twice I have been very far down in "the valley of the shadow of death" and have been brought back through complete reliance on this blessed truth. I have had many other blessings through its aid, in the enjoyment of class instruction, our wonderful literature, lectures, membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; and my heart sends forth ceaseless praises to God for this most precious gift of Christian Science through His faithful messenger, our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
