Through the study of Christian Science I have been freed from all manner of sickness, discouragement, and sorrow. It is almost twenty years since I began the study of this Science. At that time I had what is called a nervous breakdown and a complication of many other complaints and discordant conditions. I had been under physicians, surgeons, osteopathic and chiropractic treatments, but was in such a condition that my family and friends thought I should pass on. I prayed that I should be led in some way so that I should get the help and peace which I longed for and believed was for me sometime. My prayers were answered when a dear friend who knew of my condition called at my home, and, as I lay on my couch, talked with me of Christian Science and of God as the only healer. I was interested and loved to talk with her about God; this she knew. She went away, and soon returned with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also a Christian Science Sentinel. I was very anxious to get the book; and began the study with the thought, If it is of God, it is everything; if it is not of God, it is nothing, and I shall have no need for it. I had not read long before I knew that this was the truth that Jesus had taught and demonstrated; and I knew beyond a doubt that Mrs. Eddy was divinely guided to write this book. I continued to read, and had many instantaneous healings. I had not been able to sleep all night for over a year. I laid the book aside after reading, and retired for the night. I slept like a child, and arose in the morning knowing that God was near and that I walked with Him. I was completely healed of this sleepless, restless condition, and also of constipation. I had carried remedies in my pocket which a physician told me I should always have to take.

For years I had been very nervous and shaky at times; it was difficult for me to handle the dishes while eating. This condition I believed was inherited; but soon after beginning to read Science and Health I was conscious of the healing of this condition, and was no longer shaky but calm and natural. I was wearing glasses when I began reading, but soon had no need for them; and they have never been used since.

My spine, injured by a fall from a scaffold, was healed. Osteopaths had told me that this would paralyze me. It was difficult for me to stoop or do heavy lifting. I was conscious of this healing instantly, for when arising to dress I realized and remarked that I was well.
