supply, support, protection, and safety depend largely upon the way in which mortals occupy their time and thought in the present.

civilized countries there has never been a lack of endeavor to ennoble human existence.

what joy one can give himself of the tasks of spring house-cleaning, and what a lesson there is in it! In expectation of pleasant changes, and abiding in the consciousness of the real man's existence in an atmosphere of spiritual purity, one makes a few preparations; and the work, started perhaps in the attic, progresses gradually to the basement, at every step illustrating the possibilities, yes, and the need, of mental house-cleaning.
Among
students the belief frequently prevails that, although some subjects are mastered with ease, others present difficulties so insurmountable that discouragement is sure to come in, hampering progress and well-nigh stopping effort.
