Signs of the Times

[From the Daily Journal, Elizabeth, New Jersey]

A prominent educational magazine, the Journal of the National Education Association, in an editorial, ... makes the following statement: "Hour after hour, day after day, we are all facing situation where there is choice between the higher and the lower." The danger is that in times like these, of confusion and discouragement and hardship, we are too prone to choose the lower.

But the editorial goes on to say: "It takes but little common sense and the will to choose the higher path—to change the whole course of a life, a school, a nation, or an age. A little more faith, a little more idealism, and the confusion of to-day may give way to the fairest dawn the world has seen."
