Seek Ye—Continue Ye!

As recorded in the Gospel of John, Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Mary Baker Eddy has written (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 149, 150): "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance." "If ye continue"! "If thou seekest"! Our Master and our Leader made it very clear that the truth which frees from discord of every nature is an ever present reality, but that only by seeking an understanding of the truth and applying it to the conditions which arise in our daily lives are we proving that these promises are demonstrably true.

Sometimes amid the turmoil of material conditions, with manifestations of lack, failure, sin, sickness, and sorrow all about us, it may seem difficult to see only the spiritual universe and spiritual man as real. Our thought is apt to become filled with fear and doubt, thereby checking the flow of good to us. The source of all good is inexhaustible, and we have little or much as our thought is closed or open to receive it. It is wonderful to know that, since God is omnipresent, good is everywhere; that we can let it permeate every thought, word, and deed of our daily lives.
