I did not take up the study of Christian Science for any physical healing, but as a religion for my children. Being very much dissatisfied with the church I had always attended, I decided to send them to the Christian Science Sunday School. At this time I knew nothing of Christian Science, but I had attended the services a few times with a member of my family, and had been impressed with the love and peace manifested there. Although I could not then express just what it was, I felt as if I had found something for which I had been seeking since girlhood.
The children had been attending the Sunday school but a short time when they began repeating statements of truth. It was they who told me that if I understood Christian Science I could heal their ills. I began reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, so that I should be able to answer their questions more intelligently; and very often I read to them, although it took me nearly two years to let go of all material remedies. However, I can truthfully say that Christian Science has been our only physician for the past thirteen years.
Many so-called children's diseases have been quickly and permanently healed. I have been healed of diabetes, nervous prostration, indigestion, quinsy sore throat, neuralgia, and many other ills. For these healings I am very grateful, but I am especially grateful for freedom from fear and anxiety and from a false sense of responsibility in caring for my children.
