Great joy and gratitude come to the mother who brings...
Great joy and gratitude come to the mother who brings up her children in Christian Science. Through this wonderful truth my children have been quickly healed of mumps, chicken pox, measles, whooping cough, sore throat, earache, and skin infection. While troubled with some of these ailments, they have not felt or voiced any discomfort.
A complete healing came to my little boy after he fell out of our automobile while we were driving alone at a fair speed. As he went out I declared, "Accidents are unknown to God" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 424). Since his head was badly cut, I asked to be taken home and left alone with the child. I asked for help from a Christian Science pracitioner, and then sang our Leader's hymn, beginning "Shepherd, show me how to go" (Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 397, 398; Poems, p. 14). In ten minutes the child was asleep, and he did not awake until the next morning, when not only was the wound healed, but no recollection of the experience was in his thought, nor could it ever be brought to his thought when anyone spoke of it to him.
I too have had many healings for which I am most grateful. When I was very young in the understanding of Christian Science, my wrist was broken. As there was no pracitioner where I was, I sat wondering if I should go to a doctor, knowing I did not want to. Just then these words came to me: "Know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This I did hourly through the study of the Bible and Science and Health until I gained a perfect healing. A rather interesting thing occurred after I regained the use of my wrist. My brother-in-law, a doctor, doubted whether it had been broken, and after seeing I was using it again asked me to have it X-rayed; to which I consented. On seeing the picture, showing where it had been broken and perfectly set, he said to the doctor who took the picture, "Christian Science healed this."
