The Power of Right Thought
It is cause for unceasing gratitude that Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader, through her untiring service gave to sick and sin-tired humanity the Science of Christianity, whereby they could experience the blessings of right thinking.
On page 492 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes, "For right reasoning there should be but one fact before the thought, namely, spiritual existence;" and in "Pulpit and Press" (p. 3) she says: "Know, then, that you possess sovereign power to think and act rightly, and that nothing can dispossess you of this heritage and trespass on Love. If you maintain this position, who or what can cause you to sin or suffer? Our surety is in our confidence that we are indeed dwellers in Truth and Love, man's eternal mansion." Sovereign power does not mean human will-power, which is weakness, not power. God, Spirit, is the only power; and since God is infinite, there is no room for any other power or presence. The unreality of all error can be proved when the rules of Christian Science are followed, and God, good, is acknowledged as All-in-all.
Wrong thinking causes discordant conditions. It can be said that when we are as ready to get rid of the wrong thinking that causes a discordant condition as we are to get rid of the discordant condition, healing cannot long be delayed.
