More than twenty years ago Christian Science was presented...
More than twenty years ago Christian Science was presented to me at a time of great need. I had been a semi-invalid since babyhood, having been injured by a fall which resulted in hip disease. As I grew older, severe neuralgic headaches and sciatic rheumatism were added. It was for the headaches that I consented, hesitatingly on account of my strict church teaching, to have Christian Science treatment; when these began to lessen, I gained courage to ask for further help. In a year's time I was able to walk without crutch or cane, and without any pain. From that time to this the healing has gone on, one ailment after another disappearing. For the past twelve years I have carried on a work among children that necessitates heavy lifting, and I am on my feet many hours of the day.
When I lost both parents under unusual circumstances, I was sustained and comforted in a wonderful manner; and though miles away from any human relation, I had no sense of loneliness. God has been, indeed, my Father and my Mother, and I have proved that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 494). I look happily into the future, knowing that the good which has thus far come to me has come from an inexhaustible source and will never be withdrawn.
Surely this is proof of the permanence of Christian Science healing. I am sincerely grateful for every experience along the way which has forced me to turn from matter to Mind, from error to Truth; and I am grateful, too, for the practitioners who have shown me how to think rightly; for class instruction and subsequent Association meetings; for our literature, especially The Christian Science Monitor, without which I might at times be tempted to feel somewhat shut in, having little opportunity for social or outside activities.—(Miss) Marguerite Tebbs, Berkeley, California.
