"The beauty of holiness"

IN "No and Yes" Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 8), "Avoid voicing error; but utter the truth of God and the beauty of holiness, the joy of Love and 'the peace of God, that passeth all understanding,' recommending to all men fellowship in the bonds of Christ."

How frequently the temptation comes to us in our daily relationships to voice error! Sometimes we fear that something is wrong; perhaps somebody has made a mistake, or we believe that people are acting unwisely, injudiciously. In our ignorance think that it will mend matters if we discuss these things with a friend; and this we proceed to do. But discussion of error as of something real cannot remove either the error or its seeming effects. On the contrary, such a method only fosters the mistake and adds to the discord.

Suppose, for instance, a body of soldiers receives an order to guard a certain position. They perhaps may not agree with the wisdom of the order, but, being loyal and faithful servants to their cause and country, they do not lessen their watch in order to talk over what appears to them to be a mistaken command. Rather do they go forward shoulder to shoulder in their valiant stand for the right, knowing that any other course would almost certainly result in their unguarded defense being stormed and taken.
