It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude that I offer this testimony of the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science.

After years of semi-invalidism and much doctoring I was examined by eminent specialists both in the North and in the South, and I finally consented to an operation, which, however, only made bad matters worse, for I was finally bedridden. I was unable to walk, and practically helpless. Paralysis was rapidly creeping over my body; I could not eat anything solid, was on a milk diet, and had to have an enema twice a day to relieve my suffering. The physicians had told me I could never walk again, and I was very despondent.

At this time some friends who were not Scientists suggested Christian Science to me. They had seen proof of its efficacy and felt it was my only help. On that glorious Sunday morning when I read in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the wonderful truth contained under the marginal caption, "Mind imparts purity, health, and beauty" (p. 371), and had read to the end of the page, I arose from my bed, for I saw clearly that there was not anything to hold me there. I was free! I want to say here that the physicians were very kind and considerate, and did all they could for me.
