For the past thirteen years Christian Science has been our only help, and it has met every need for me and for my family. I have three children who attend a Christian Science Sunday School, for which I am most grateful.
As Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Little did I understand the real significance of this until about two years ago. I was shot, the first bullet entering my right side, going through my right lung and liver, and coming out between two ribs; the second entering my left arm just above the elbow, and coming out just above my heart. In compliance with the law I was taken to a hospital, where the physician said I could not possibly live twenty-four hours. The case was observed very closely, as the doctors were positive that I would have internal hemorrhages from my lung and liver; but as a result of Christian Science treatment, I had neither temperature nor hemorrhages. A few hours after arriving at the hospital, I was able to sit up. This happened early on a Wednesday morning. On the following Monday I was dismissed from the hospital, as the physician said, "All shot to pieces and not hurt." I was not confined to my bed, and was able to attend church the following Wednesday evening. My sister, who is a Christian Science nurse, was allowed to be with me. As soon as the accident occurred a practitioner had been called and the difficulty was soon met by knowing the truth. I had no pain, and to-day there is no trace of the accident whatever.
I am also experiencing a happiness and harmony in my home which I thought almost impossible. I am very grateful for Christian Science, and to the loving practitioner who worked so faithfully for me.
