Listening

MUCH has been spoken and written of the advantageous and meritorious qualities of being a good listener; and certainly it is an essential quality to cultivate if one would be able or ready to dispense to others the ideas or thoughts that present themselves to him.

The great secret of Mrs. Eddy's gift to the world is found in the fact that she learned to listen for and obey the voice of God. This thought is beautifully expressed in the following lines from one of her loved poems (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 398; Poems, p. 14):
