Blending
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE gives promise of unification for all mankind in proportion as the dissenting elements in human nature are destroyed. All ideas emanating from a common source, namely divine Mind, blend with one another, and human intercourse is blessed wherever this scientific fact is demonstrated.
On page 316 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes, "Christ illustrates that blending with God, his divine Principle, which gives man dominion over all the earth." In all the complex difficulties of daily life one should express dominion through blending with the will of God. Each one should ask himself, not, What is my desire in this situation? but, What is the mandate of divine Principle in respect to it? As each student of Christian Science concerned in the problem does this, a right adjustment of the situation will follow in due course. And even if only one of two or more individuals seeming to suffer strife will blend his thoughts with divine Principle, will control his tongue and hold his peace, there will cease to be any conflict as far as he himself is concerned, for error cannot disturb or deceive God's true witness. His offspring cannot be at odds with each other, because Mind, their divine source, is indivisible.
There is but one Truth, and but one claim of evil. If all mortals would regard so-called evil as the one common enemy, and make it their business to destroy their own belief in it, they would no longer regard one another as enemies either in private, public, or national life. They would act together as allies in righteousness, resisting schisms, wars, and using divine Principle as their means of unification in adjusting their difficulties. What becomes of self-justification or of personal condemnation when one's only desire, in sunshine and in storm, is to blend thought with the omniscient divine Mind, which knows all there is to know, yet knows no rivalry or inharmony? The purpose of the Christian Scientist is not to uphold the false claims of error but to obey the demands of eternal Truth.
