Twenty-two years ago a swelling appeared on my body, causing discomfort at times. I asked help of several Christian Science practitioners, but the evidence remained unchanged. About three years ago the condition became very painful and distressing, so much so that I was confined to my bed. A practitioner very lovingly took up the work; also, a dear Christian Scientist was found to care for me. After several days and nights of pain the thought given by one of our lecturers came to me, that the healing must take place in my consciousness. I asked the nurse to go to sleep, assuring her I would call if I needed her. I realized that, as Mrs. Eddy says, "either there is no omnipotence, or omnipotence is the only power" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 249). I read and pondered the ninety-first and twenty-third psalms. Then, when the manifestation seemed even worse, I felt that "error, urged to its final limits, is self-destroyed" (ibid., p. 476).

I continued to read on into the night about what our revered Leader tells us of John's exaltation, "till he became conscious of the spiritual facts of being and the 'New Jerusalem' " (ibid., p. 574). The pain lessened and I slept. The sun was pouring in at our windows when we awakened, and truly we were on holy ground. All discord had passed away while I slept, and in a comparatively short time I was entirely free.

When my youngest child was fifteen months old, he seemed to be passing on with what the physician, whom we called in obedience to the law, called pneumonia. I got to the place where I could only say "God," and look away from the little body. In two weeks' time the healing, through Christian Science, was complete. The same loving practitioner helped us through this valley experience. I am grateful to God for the love and consecration of these dear workers, also for class instruction with a loyal teacher. A ten days' visit to The Christian Science Benevolent Association was extremely helpful. I can never be grateful enough for this wonderful truth, for Mrs. Eddy's unselfish labor in giving it to a hungry world, and to all those who have so kindly helped me along the way.—(Mrs.) Lettie E. Staebler, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
