Years ago, when I first heard of Christian Science through a friend's healing of a tumor, I expressed the desire to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I did so more out of curiosity than anything else, not realizing that I could be healed. I thought I had not enough spiritual understanding, and that I was not good enough to receive God's blessing. I at once, however, loved the book, and could not go to sleep without first reading a few pages of it. While suffering from asthma and unable to sleep, I contracted the habit of taking sleeping drafts. The latter habit left me instantaneously when I realized the ever-presence of God. After reading the book for a few months I realized that I was healed of asthma.

After three years' study of Christian Science I was healed of blindness in my left eye. This blindness had existed since I was a little child, and no oculist had ever been able to help me. I was also healed of stammering, and of two great sorrows during war time. I should like to say here that all these healings took place by simply studying the Bible and Science and Health.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and also for the privilege of class instruction. I can never put into words my deep gratitude to God for all the loving care and blessings He has bestowed on me. I can only try to follow in the footsteps of our Way-shower, Christ Jesus. I realize that striving to live in accordance with the Sermon on the Mount is the only way to express my sincere gratitude to God. I also feel very grateful to our revered and dear Leader for her books—her gift to the world.
